Connaught Vets
Our Equine Team
Sue Taylor BVMS MVM MRCVS
Director – Equine Vet
I am the daughter of Mick Taylor, the founder of the practice, hence I grew up with veterinary medicine around me, helping my father from a very early age.
I qualified from Glasgow vet school in 1976, and then spent a year as a postgraduate studying equine orthopaedics leading to an MVM.
Sue Taylor
I have ridden all my life and own several thoroughbred horses. In my (limited!!) spare time I train point to pointers and hunter chasers; often having them from youngsters, breaking them in and then taking them through their training. I also breed the occasional thoroughbred foal. I live with my rescued lurcher Hal, my whippet Tiny Tim and my partner Paul who manufactures saddlery.

Gayle Capps BVSc MRCVS
Equine Vet
I qualified from Bristol vet school in 1999 and worked in a mixed practice in Bedfordshire for three years, before moving to The George Veterinary Group in Wiltshire for the best part of ten years, initially doing small animal and equine, but ultimately solely equine.

I have two children who also keep me busy, a long-suffering husband who works in London, and a very daft retriever called Alfie who comes out on visits with me.

Carrie Law BVetMS MRCVS
Equine Vet
I’m Carrie, and I’ve recently joined the equine team. I graduated from Harper and Keele Veterinary School as part of their pioneering Class of 2025, and I’m really excited to begin my career in equine practice.
I have a particular interest in medicine cases and look forward to developing my skills further in this area.
Carrie Law
I’m really looking forward to meeting our clients and their horses, and becoming part of the local equine community!

Tanya Mason BVSc MRCVS
Equine Vet
I graduated from the University of Sydney nearly 25 years ago. I worked in equine practice in Australia and New Zealand before settling back in the UK. I enjoy the variety of veterinary work, particularly lameness and poor performance investigations, pre‑purchase examinations, and medical cases – although my favourite visits to attend are emergencies. I especially love a good stitch-up!
Tanya Mason
I am passionate – and I hope practical – about equine welfare and our responsibility to the horses in our care. I love thoroughbreds and work as a racecourse treating vet at Uttoxeter and Wolverhampton. I own an ex-racehorse, who I’ve enjoyed competing with in RoR classes. Outside of work, I love skiing, walking my dogs, pottery and spending time with friends and family.
I look forward to meeting you and your horses. Some of you should already know me, as I worked for Connaught House over 10 years ago, and I am very pleased to be back.
Lucy Crawford RVN (Equine) J‑SQP
Senior Equine Veterinary Nurse
I trained as an Equine Veterinary Nurse in Newmarket and worked at a large equine referral hospital in Berkshire. I joined the Connaught House team in 2019, where I assist the vets on a day-to-day basis and also carry out my own visits. I’m a qualified Registered Animal Medicines Advisor (RAMA), which allows me to advise on and prescribe certain medications, including wormers. I have a keen interest in equine behaviour and have completed further qualifications in this area. I’m currently studying for a MSc in Equine Science to deepen my knowledge even further.
Lucy Crawford
Outside of work, I enjoy dressage, eventing, and horse racing. I also have a lively Jack Russell named Bertie who keeps me on my toes!

Jan Lake
Equine Manager
I began working at Connaught House in 1998, starting on reception and then migrating to the offices upstairs to focus on the Equine Department. I now spend my days tracking down the equine vets and keeping them focussed on the job in hand – even I cannot stop them from going AWOL at times (!) – as well as dealing with the administration the equine department brings with it.
Jan Lake
In my spare time I breed and show Maine Coons, and I am often seen walking into the practice with one of my beloved cats in tow.

Sarah Wankling
Senior Receptionist
I started working as a receptionist at Connaught House in June 2021, having previously worked at a different practice for 4 years. I enjoy meeting clients and their animals and all aspects of reception work.
Sarah Wankling
Due to my interest in the Equine side of the business and having owned and ridden horses since a very young age, I have become the Equine Administrator and work closely alongside Jan, and the Equine Vets and Nurse, to help with queries and book visits, as well as taking payments and dealing with medication requests. I am always available to take calls.
