Shifnal

Shifnal Small Animal Centre has recently been re-branded from Taylor & Marshall, which has been owned by Sue Taylor since the mid-1980s.

Sue Taylor, and her partner Chris Marshall, opened Taylor & Marshall vets after purchasing the premises (which was formally a Butcher’s shop!). They both spent their time between T&M and Connaught in Wolverhampton until the practice expanded.

Historically Taylor & Marshall was an exotics and small animal practice due to Chris Marshall’s interest in exotics. In 2013 Chris Marshall retired and Andrew Mills bought into the partnership with Sue Taylor, and in July 2024 T&M was officially made part of Connaught House Veterinary Group Ltd.

Due to limited levels of specialist exotics vets available in recent years and since becoming part Connaught House Veterinary Group Ltd officially, the Shifnal practice has become small animal focused but still with some exotic clients.

We are still more than happy to see your exotic pets, with a view to referring them onto an exotic specialist if we cannot help. We still provide routine exotic services such as nail clipping, beak trimming and faecal testing.

In 2023 Shifnal worked towards becoming an RCVS Accredited Practice under the Practice Standards Scheme and achieved GP level. We are also an approved Training Practice to train Veterinary Nurses.

I cannot thank the staff enough for looking after Ben after a tricky operation, a huge thank you to Elliott who has made such a difference to Ben and his mobility. Thanks team.

Excellent service as usual, the girls took my dog from in the car park and I went in through the front complying with the covid regards. Have been using Connaught House for over 30 years and would not think of going elsewhere the best in the area. Yet again great service seen on time and very pleased with the quality of the examination although the result was not to our liking. Another visit with excellent care and service.

I've been with this veterinary hospital for over 20 years, but recently had the opportunity to compare them with an alternative, and it was an eye opener... One of my 3 cats had a dental procedure there about 18 months ago and, because my 4 year old was in tow, they did a themed certificate for the cat for being "so good". The theme was something my son was/is obsessed about-it was lovely. Everything was great and the post op care was amazing. Then a few months later, one of the other cats started suffering with her teeth. Took her to connaughts straight away and they operated, but she struggled with her recovery and started suffering pain again shortly afterwards. After taking her back to connaughts and having a second surgery recommended without much investigation, I became suspicious (there was quite a lot of 'trashing' of vets happening in the media at the time). I took her to another vets for a follow up surgery and, without going into detail, it was horrible. I brought my poor kitty back to connaughts for a third surgery, which the vet HEAVILY discounted for me, given the circumstances, and she is doing amazing. Will, the surgeon, was so detailed in his explanation of what had happened and how it was missed, I couldn't be more satisfied. I'll never go anywhere else again!!!

Really thorough and informative consultations. Have really put our minds at ease over our cat being diagnosed with diabetes and the care we need to give her. Would recommend.

Today 01/05/2024 my mom had to say a sad goodbye to her dog Marley. We had excellent service from Will the vet and the nurse that came on the call out with him. Sadly Marley passed away just before they arrived. Also I would like to say a very big thank you to Bethany for all your help .

Would definitely recommend Connaughts Vets on the Tettenhall road. My dog is very wary and needed to be seen for treatment for a nasty skin infection. He wouldn't get out of the car as he was in a lot of pain and the staff came out to help and were very kind to him and helped me get him into the vets. His treatment was excellent and the vet, Julie, and her colleagues were all very caring and helpful. Prior to this recent visit, I'd been taking my dog into Connaughts Vets for socialisation and had always been made to feel very welcome. Great service throughout thank you, Katie
